Fire Teams—Optional Practice

These practices are open to all of our current Players and any new players that are trying out or want to become future Fire Players. Boys will practice on Tuesdays—July 15, July 22, July 29—at 6 pm until 7.30 pm. Girls will practice on Wednesdays—July 16,23, and 30—at 6 pm until 7.30pm.

And don't forget our pickup games for players aged 14 and up, and adults(Parents /Coaches/Family) at 7.00pm at Field #4 on Wednesday evenings. (It's really plenty cool by then smiley). If you have questions about any of these activities, or about the Fire Clubs in general, contact Steve Jennings at training@ahfsh.org.

Summer Soccer Camp

Keep your skills sharp (and learn new ones) at AHFSH Summer Soccer Camp, being held July 21-25 for kids aged 4-16. Here is a brochure and application (in Word format). For more information, contact Steve Jennings at training@ahfsh.org.

Tryout results

Results from this week's competitive Fire Club tryouts are posted here. Remember, there will be supplemental tryouts in August to fill any open slots on these teams. If you have questions about the tryouts or the Fire program in general contact Steve Jennings, our Director of Training.

Sunburn not the only UV radiation danger

Folks who spend a lot of time outdoors, like our players and their parents, need to be aware of the danger ultraviolet radiation from the sun poses for your eyes, too. Here is an informtive article from the American Optometric Association.

TOPSoccer a big success

TOPSoccer is a training and team placement program for young athletes with disabilities, organized by youth soccer association volunteers. The program is designed to bring the opportunity of learning and playing soccer to any boy or girl, ages 5 to 18, who has a mental or physical disability. Our first season of TOPSoccer was a HUGE success. The program is set to begin again in the fall, 2008 season. A big Thank you to our TopSoccer sponsor: Cavender Auto Family.

We need volunteers and "buddies" to make this program a success in San Antonio. Here is more information.

Sponsorship Opportunities

If you have a business, or have connections with a business or other organization, that would like to be recognized for supporting youth soccer at AHFSH, take a look here at Sponsorship opportunities. If you have any questions, or want to sign up, contact our Public Relations Commissioner at pr@ahfsh.org.

Don't talk and drive !

Fort Sam Houston now prohibits talking on mobile phones while driving on the post. Violators will be ticketed, so pull over and stop if you need to use your cell phone on the way to the games. And according to the article about the policy in the Express-News, the ban applies to hands-free sets, too.

NOTE: Click on "Refresh" or "Reload" to be sure you are seeing the most recent versions of our pages. This is particularly important when looking at schedules. It may not be obvious when your browser shows you a cached (saved) copy of a page instead of the "live" current version

If you have a question, comment or suggestion about the AHFSH web pages, please email ahfshweb@ahfsh.org. For any other questions (about schedules, coaches, referees, fields, etc.) please email the appropriate board member, who has responsibility for the area of your question, from our Contacts page.
Emailing ahfshweb about anything other than the web site will delay the response to your question.

Thank you!
